There are three main subjects this blog aims to cover:
1. The Guatemala-UK connection: there are many events and initiatives that we hear about in GSN that build solidarity between our two countries. This blog aims to play a role in better publicising and recording this work going on. In the process, we hope we also make it easier for you to get involved- wherever you are- whatever you're doing...
2. We'd like to blog about news and current affairs in Guatemala- particularly on critical human rights issues that rarely make a impact in the mainstream UK media outlets. International exposure can make an important contribution to supporting human rights defenders in Guatemala. In addition, where possible this blog will tease out the UK perspective on these issues with the help of writers from the UK and beyond, with experience of Guatemala, based in and outside Central America.
3. Finally we'd like this space to provoke discussion and reaction in and around the UK, Guatemala and beyond on the issues that count in Guatemala today. The posts in this blog should be taken as having been written in a personal capacity, unless otherwise stated. Views stated here should not be taken to represent policy of the Guatemala Solidarity Network.
